I'm Tiina Mäkinen and I work on the healthcare sector, I live with my cohabitant Petri and my son Ilkka. My son Jussi and daughter Sanna already lives on their own. We live in Nousiainen 35 km north from Turku. We live on the countryside, where it's very peaceful to live and our neighbours lives far enough, so they won't bothered by the occasional barking. Though deers, wolves and other wild animal visits our yard occasionally.

I've taken an interest in various tasks on the board of associations such as 'Samoyedists of Turunmaa' and 'Samoyedists of Pirkanmaa' and 'Livestock Guardian Dogs of Finland Proper'. I'm a member of the Finnish Hungarian Shepherds Association (Unkarinpaimenkoirat ry.) and their official breed club. A member of the Finnish and Swedish Kuvasz-club Finnish Samoyed Association (SAMY), and also the Finnish Kennel Club.

I've accomplished the basic course for the breeding advisors in 2009 organized by the Finnish Kennel Club

In 2004 I received a kennel name 'Meripeikon'. First Samoyed litter born in 2005.

My interest in dogs began in my childhood, we had a Scottish Shepherd at home. When I left home, I got my self a male Rottweiler 'Atik'. I wandered in shows with him with various success. We even tried the obedience trials. When he passed away I managed to stay 6 months without a dog.

I spotted an announcement about a Kuvasz on a paper. Just one phone call and I was on the way to find out what this Kuvasz was all about. When I drove towards Tampere, I was very excited about this dog. When I arrived there, I was speechless, I was totally in love with Kuvasz, but lovely were also the breeders other dogs, Samoyeds. We had a long conversation and we agreed that I'll think about it and call her in a couple of days. A little Samoyed-girl came in our family. Coldblow Ofelia 'Ninni'. After 6 months it was time for Baltic Breeze Queen Blanca 'Rita' to join the family. In 2000 came Coldblow Jonatan ”Rölli”.
Because 3 dogs wasn't enough, I had 2 samoyeds more. Coldblow Melissa 'Elli' and Coldblow Moritz 'Vili'.

From the first litter one male stayed at home Meripeikon Arthur 'Arttu'. He lives nowadays in Turku with Sanna and Jere.

We have two cats 'Sisu' and 'Misse'.

I was familiarised with Kuvasz at my in laws place, there was this gorgeous Kuvasz male. Whenever we were there I sneaked out for a little walk with him and we did a couple of shows too. But I wanted Kuvasz of my own, so we had a Kuvasz girl Aamuruskon Ofelia Blow 'Oona' in 2005. We did quite well in shows with her, but she has never liked strange dogs and it was a bit stressful there.


I thought it would be nice to have a male Kuvasz. In summer 2007 I was familiarised with some wonderful Kuvasz people here in Finland, the other came from abroad. With their great input and help we managed to get Fehèr Cimboràk Bernàt 'Pyry' from Germany in 2008. I just couldn't believe that so wonderful persons even existed, they helped me a lot. But It was not that easy, Petri did not fancy the idea at first. I fetched Pyry myself from Germany, I spent there 3 days and had an wonderful opportunity to get to know this family. We explored a German dog school which was a very interesting experience. When we arrived at home with Pyry, Oona welcomed him superbly. They are true friends.

We have large yards for dogs, but our dogs lives indoors with our family. That means din and rumble every now and then.
